Vernonware 4 Bread Butter Plates 6 3/8″ Brown Early California Ringed 1937-1945  A beautiful Vernon Kilns EARLY CALIFORNIA Brown RINGED Mold Vernonware Set of 4 BREAD & BUTTER PLATES 6 3/8″ made in Vernon, California USA Circa 1937-1945 Description:  Since these are hand painted, subtle differences are evident and add to their character and uniqueness.  The color palette used is a dark brown.  The solid colors including brown were produced on the ringed mold starting in 1937.  By 1946, brown was not listed as a color in the company price list.  Please check our eBay store for other items in the Vernonware Early California pattern. Condition:  While this set of 4 bread & butter plates is classified as used, the condition is superb.  There are no rubbings, chips, nicks, hairlines, utensil scratches or repairs.Dimensions: The plates have a diameter of 6 3/8″ and a height of 5/8″.History/Marks:  All of the Plaid Patterns continued until Vernon Kilns was acquired (including the molds & patterns) by Metlox Pottery in 1958.  Metlox continued the Vernon factory for two years manufacturing under “Vernonware by Metlox”.   All of the Vernonware we have listed was before the acquisition by Metlox Pottery.  This Early California Vernon Kilns mark is cited as mark #13 in Nelson’s Collectible Vernon Kilns 2nd edition as used in the 1930’s-early 1940’s time period.  The dark brown color was listed as produced starting in 1937 and brown was not included in the company’s 1946 price list.  Therefore, the circa for this set is 1937-1945.
