This extremely rare and unique vintage ensemble from (possibly Venezuelan) designer Mimi Trujillo comprises a jumpsuit and an extremely full matching cape. The jumpsuit is a step-in design that has a single, self-covered button closure at the neckline but also has hidden ties on the inside at waist level that add additional closure. The overall design is quite simple with raglan sleeves, on-seam pockets, and not defined waist. The legs appear to be a slightly cropped length, although that might be because the size is Small. The fabric is a loosely woven 100% wool crepe. The jumpsuit is labeled size Small. The magnificent cape that accompanies the jumpsuit measures more than twenty-five feet around the bottom! Please refer to the measurements for the best guidance regarding actual size and compare with similar garments – at least for the jumpsuit – that fit you.* Note: I was not successful finding much information about Mimi Trujillo online. The only reference to her designs that I could definitively associate with her was a Resort ’84/’85 collection, and the mid-eighties is around when I would date this jumpsuit and cape. I also found two more incredible vintage Trujillo capes that sold online at auction in the 2010s. JUMPSUIT MEASUREMENTS – Raglan sleeves have no shoulder seams to measure between, so shoulder width is variable. – Chest measures approximately 40″ – Waist is 38″ – Hips measure 40″ – Inseam is 27″ – Length is 28″ down center back to crotch.CAPE MEASUREMENTS – One size fits all. – Width around bottom is approximately 25′ 6″ – Length is 47″ down center back.CONDITION This ensemble overall is in very good condition with no tears, rips or stains. There is at least one small hole in the jumpsuit near the neck opening (see photo) about the size of a pencil lead. The hole is covered when wearing the cape, and it is the kind of fabric that can probably be re-woven. There are a few even smaller holes in the cape, but these are essentially invisible among the many yards of fabric. Please do not rely only on the size label or estimated size to determine fit.
