eBay Mk1 MGF Custom Made Rear Brake Pipe replacement kit – for cars WITH ABS. Each model MGF / TF has a different brake set up so please CHECK THIS IS THE CORRECT MODEL AND THAT YOUR CAR DOES HAVE ABS (see at the bottom how to check). 
 Mk2 and MGTF (ABS and Non ABS) rear kits are available under my other auctions as well as front kits and full sets. 

This kit contains replacement copper brake pipes of the correct specification to directly replace the corroded or damaged brake pipes on your MG. Due to the location of these pipes pipes and the age of our beloved MG’s the originals probably need replacing. 

This kit includes 3 pipes: • Front to rear underbelly pipe. • Rear splitter to NS Rear wheel pipe. • Rear splitter to OS Rear wheel pipe. 
 I also sell clutch pipe kits specifically for MGF and MGTF’S, please see my other auctions. 

All pipes are cut to the correct length and have the correct pipe unions installed and the correct flares formed at the end of the pipe ready for direct replacement. Each pipe and each end of each pipe is clearly marked to ensure it is installed in the correct location.

I am an MGF / MGTF enthusiast and have replaced these pipes on a number of vehicles. 

Replacing clutch and brake pipes can be a challenging, time consuming and expensive experience if you have to prepare the replacement pipe yourself. The key issue with replacing pipes is getting the correct unions and ensuring that the brake pipe is flared correctly to allow a good seal between the new pipe and the part being connected to. The cheap flaring kits you can get on ebay are useless and will not give you a good flare. We only use the best equipment to flare our pipes, our tool cost in excess of £200!

The following steps are required to replace a damaged or corroded pipe using this kit:
1. With a cloth or other absorbent material in place to catch hydraulic fluid, carefully undo the union at each end of the damaged / corroded pipe taking note of the location of each end.
2. Unclip the pipe from its securing points along its length
3. Remove the pipe and lay it out on the floor
4. Take the new pipe from the kit and unreel it (it will be rolled up for shipping)
5. Ensure that the ends correspond to those previously noted
6. Bend the new pipe to follow the format of the old pipe as closely as possible
7. Install the new pipe by securing it in place using the clips released earlier
8. Carefully do up the union bolts at each end of the pipe
9. Bleed the system thoroughly according to the manufacturers instructions

Please note – The above instructions are meant as an outline guide only and do not include a number of important steps such as preparing the car to be worked on (jacking and supporting etc). 

All pipes are cut to length but allow some additional length to account for differences in bending technique etc. If pipes appear slightly too long then some length can be used up by slightly bending the pipe at a suitable point along its run. Rather too long than too short!!

 Mk1 MGF – 1995 – 1999 approx. Has a square gear lever surround. Mk2 MGF – 1999 – 2001 approx. Has a circular aluminium gear lever surround. MGTF – Completely different front end to an MGF so you should be able to tell! 
 ABS presence – open bonnet and look at tray on opposite side to battery. If it has a box there with 5 or so brake pipes coming out of it you have ABS. If it doesn’t, you don’t.
