This antenna is made to properly fit and work with the following Kenwood portable radio models that operate in the 763-870 MHz frequency range; NX-5400, NX-5410, NX-5410D Our K780 antenna is a great replacement for the Kenwood antenna models; KRA-24, KRA-32, KRA-36, and KRA-38 Note: a BIGGER antenna is usually NOT any better, JUST REALLY BIG! The 763-870 MHz radio band is the new main frequency range used for Police, Fire, Rescue, and Public Safety Trunked/Conventional radio systems. Our antenna will cover all of the frequencies as published in the Homeland Security “National Interop Field Operations Guide” (NIFOG book), FEMA interop radio channels, and all Statewide Radio Systems that have rebanded (courtesy of Nextel) into the 763-870 MHz frequency range. All internal connections are silver soldered for best RF conductivity. The outer antenna covering is made of black flexible PVC and the antenna has a bottom weather skirt to protect the SMA male RF connection on a Kenwood 763-870 MHz portable radio. It is a fact that the most important part of any two way radio communications is the antenna system. The antenna is the device on a radio that converts RF power into radio waves during transmit and radio waves back into RF signal power on receive.
