eBay SUMMARY: A beautiful silver pocket watch by the famous watch-maker, Lip Watch Company of Switzerland, with a 15 jewelled movement and stunning Masonic dial . This is a beautifully made keyless-wound silver pocket watch, made in ca. 1920, and recently cleaned and overhauled by my watch maker with a two year mechanical warranty The buy it now price is a clear reflection of the rarity, stunning condition and long-term investment for this watch. THE DIAL: 100% mint, the full colour enamel dial with black Arabic numerals and in bright condition with no chips or hairlines and signed Lip Watch Co,. The dial with fine blue steel spade hands. Diameter is 44 mm. The crystal is also in excellent condition and retained securely. The dial with masonic imagery including the pillars of the temple of Solomon, The All Seeing Eye, also known as the Masonic Eye or Eye of Providence, it represents the eye of the Lord and serves as a reminder to Freemasons that he is always watching, seeing all of their actions and thoughts. While Freemasons can’t claim an entire letter of the alphabet as their own, they do use the letter G within their symbolism quite frequently. Others believe it represents the word ‘Gnosis’, meaning the knowledge of spiritual mysteries, which is a big component of Masonry. Others still devise that the letter G in ancient Hebrew had a numerical value of 3, which is highly referenced throughout history when talking about the Lord. Tthe Square and Compasses, the meaning behind it is quite literal, with the square representing morality in that Freemasons need to ‘square [their] actions by the square of virtue with all mankind’. The compass then measures the ability to wisely conduct actions within certain boundaries. In other words, together the Square and Compasses remind Freemasons to explore their desires and passions without stepping outside the realms of moral behaviour. The Ark of the Covenant can be found in the Bible as the Lord’s promise to King David. Freemasons draw significance and symbolism from it as today, it represents Lord’s continued forgiveness of their transgressions. Lots more imagery present in this rare dial, beautiful piece. THE MOVEMENT: 100% mint, with a damasced three quarter plate and a micro-star regulator, and gold screws. A cut two arm bimetallic balance, with Breguet hairspring and lever escapement. The movement overall of very good quality, with a cut-away plate and gold plated wheels. The watch ticking away on my desk as I type this, and keeping very good time for a 100 year old watch. The watch is much brighter and crisp than in these dark photos, which are limited by my camera and lighting equiment. The watch is in very good working order for its age. THE CASE: 98% mint, the embossed and engraved silver case measures an impressive 47 mm. The rear cover in fine condition, with a raised and embossed floral and leafy design. The watch comes with a new presentation box to store the watch when not in use. This is a high quality case, a work of art in its own right in crisp condition and of jewel like quality. The pictures show minor reflections and various dark marks, these are an artefact from the lighting and are not present in the watch case. Any dark areas or marks on highly polished surfaces are almost certainly reflections from the camera or lighting equipment.
