eBay This listing is for a wonderful porcelain girl doll. She is designed to look like a young girl (between 8 and 14). I feel fairly sure she was made to be a “Dorothy” doll (from Wizard of Oz) by the unknown artisan who crafted her. She wears a blue cotton gingham dress with a white cotton apron trimmed in white lace. Her white shoes and white socks are painted on. She has dark brown (applied fiber) hair, done in nice braids, tied in white ribbon. Her face is hand painted. Her head and neck are made of a single piece of porcelain, so her head is stationary. Her entire arms and hands, and her lower legs and feet are also made of porcelain. Her arms are jointed with wire at the shoulders. Her upper legs and torso are made of cloth-wrapped stuffing (no wire). As a result, you can pose her arms but not her legs or body. She comes with a doll stand. She would be a wonderful inhabitant to almost any setting from the 1920s onward, especially if you are doing an Oz setting. Approximate Dimensions: 4½” H This item: Is a pre-owned collector’s piece.
