A “Used/Reconditioned” Cougar Tour Touch III, Blade Style Putter, with Pistol Grip! Cougar Golf Clubs & Putters were originally made in the USA. However, they were so popular and that there were so many sets of Cougar Clubs exported to Australia, that Cougar opened a Manufacturing Plant there, to save Aussies the cost of taxes and import duties. And get this, the Cougar Company was started in America by an Australian Ex-pat. Legend says that the founder was on a driving range one time and saw a Cougar at the rear fence, that he decided on that name as Cougars were known for Strength, Agility, and Precision. Cougar Clubs (and Putters) are no longer made in the U.S, but are still so popular Down Under, you can still get them from Austrailia, at least I think so from the informtion I got from the Internet. Cougar clubs were the most popular in America with mid and high handicap golfers, but there were also a few sets seen on the PGA Tour! This Putter has a few nicks and dings from bag rattle, but it also has a couple of other unique features to it. Look at the pics and see a RED Line at the top of the front edge of the putter face, Also, look and see the top view and see the three lines there.. When addressing the ball when putting, align the horizontal and vertical green lines so they are square, or make a perfect right angle, and you’re ready to make an true and aligned putt. There is also a dotted cross on the putter face indicating where the sweet spot is. But, I found myself with some free time, so I reconditioned it. I sanded the paint to bare metal and got most of the nicks and dings out, but the few spots I couldn’t remove are casting voids. Those occur when the molten metal is poured into the mold and the mold has not been pre-heated hot enough. It’s easy to tell they are casting voids as when you sand them, they get larger instead of getting smaller. I repainted with 3 coats of Black Metallic, followed by 3 coats of Matte Clear Urethane. If the next owner will use even an old gym sock as a head cover, the finish ought to last a long time. The putter shaft is a True Temper, and the shaft sticker says it’s a Cougar Lite, so the shaft may be a Cougar design made for them by True Temper. The Grip has the Cougar name on it, so who knows who made it. It is a litle slick, but a few scrubbings with saddle soap ought to liven it up!
