For sale is a McIntosh C20 in very good condition. This unit came to me with a cracked faceplate but no other damage. After nearly 8 months, I was able to acquire a reproduction faceplate that looks close to as good as the original with the exception of the absence of the logo. Below is a list of the work I did: -replaced faceplate with new reproduction and applied new foam to the top and bottom rails.-polished all plastic both under the faceplate and the knobs. -lubricated all shafts-cleaned all controls-replaced all bulbs-rebuilt power supply completely using the best parts I could.-polished top covers-cleaned all tube pins and sockets-replaced two capacitors as there was DC at the outputs, now there is none. -checked all solder joints and cleaned up anything questionable-tested unit and plugged it into my HP 8903B Audio Analyzer. Results below. Unit was cleaned but some oxidation remains especially to the rear and sides of the unit. Beyond the power supply and two capacitors, everything else is original. Controls are all silky smooth with just the right amount of resistance. Plastic knobs were gently polished to a mirror-like finish matching the glass. From the front, this is a beautiful unit. Cosmetically it is nice overall with some nicks and scratches noted beyond just the oxidation. Original feet are also missing. Tubes seem to be mostly original Mullard and Telefunkens. Testing results:1 kHz @ ~1.5V output using HP 8903BLeft: 0.037% THD+NRight: 0.041% THD+N Terms (Please read these) Please message me if you have any gear for sale but don’t want to deal with listing. I have purchased hundreds pieces of equipment over 10 years for my own collection and to restore for sale. This rules comes from dealing with an individual who offered an attractive trade if I delivered the speakers to him. This ended up being a tremendous waste of time. I sell mostly vintage electronics. As such, these items are old and typically out of spec from when they were new. I do my best to test these items and make sure they work before they’re sent out, but I do not guarantee or represent that they will meet the original specifications. I may not even be able to test them, in which case assume that they don’t work. However, there are times where I may miss something. If that happens, I hope that you would agree that the most efficient way to take care of an issue is if you simply message me before opening a case or doing anything else. Selling items on eBay is a side effect of collecting vintage electronics. I need an outlet for these items online, so I have no reason to send you something that doesn’t work unless I’ve noted that it doesn’t. This is not my day job and I am not here to try to make a quick buck. I will do my best to represent all major cosmetic damage to any items that I sell, but when you purchase something from me, expect minor scratches and nicks unless I’ve noted that the item is free of them. I pack items correctly. I know what it takes to get an item to you safely. As a result, you may see that the shipping quote shown is higher than you’re accustomed to. Rest assured, I lose money on just about every item I ship when packing materials are considered, but if I don’t, I will absolutely refund you the difference. You will NOT have to ask for it. I will do my best to get items out within a few days, however there are instances where that is not possible especially around holidays.
