I need to clear some space on my shelves, so I have to part with some of my collection. Modelcollect is a relative newcomer to the model world but has established a fabulous reputation for innovation and quality. They initially produced some small scale finished models and later branched out into kits and larger scales. Luckily for us, they have also produced some unique subjects never available before. This interesting kit falls into that category. The HEMTT (Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck) Tractor has been in use by the US and her allies since the early 1980s to haul every kind of military load imaginable. The BGM-109G Ground Launched Cruise Missile (GLCM) was code named Gryphon and was deployed for a short time in the 1980s before it was negotiated out of existence as part of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty. I found only a handful of listings for this kit on eBay (all from outside the US), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have it in stock and can reliably ship this kit to you very quickly. Here is what I have learned about this very modern kit: The Modelcollect website has a page that shows the box art and the 14-page instruction set showing the parts layout and assembly steps. From other sources, I have found the following information about their kit: The Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck (HEMTT) is an eight-wheel drive, diesel-powered, 8×8 10-ton tactical truck. The HEMTT’s objective is to provide heavy transport capabilities for supply and re-supply of combat vehicles and weapons systems. The Ground Launched Cruise Missile, or GLCM, (officially designated BGM-109G Gryphon) was a ground-launched cruise missile developed by the United States Air Force in the last decade of the Cold War. The transporter erector launcher is towed by the Category 2 tractor and was capable of traversing rough terrain. · 1/72 scale model kit of the M983A2 Tractor and BGM-109 Gryphon.· The TEL can be built in the launching or transporting position.· The missile tube cover parts included, can be optionally attached.· Chassis details and engine are intricately recreated.· Waterslide decal is included. Scalemates.com has a listing for this kit that shows it as a future (2022) release based on the 2016 HEMTT kit tooling. They provide a link to download the 13-page instruction set and a few links to references about general HEMTT-related vehicles. I could not find any reviews of the listed kit (#UA72362), but there are several for the parent kit (#UA72077), which I believe is a very similar kit. Volker Helms posted an extensive In-Box Review of the parent (#UA72077) kit on the German-language ipmsdeutschland.de site. He presents an interesting history and shows about a dozen high resolution photos of the kit contents. He praises the quality of the moldings and summarizes with: “A great kit of the Pershing II including transport and start vehicle from modelcollect in 1/72. Due to the high number of parts, this kit is only recommended for advanced model builders.” Manuel Leyva posted a brief In-Box Review of the parent (#UA72077) kit on the German-language modellversium.de site. Highlights of the kit are pointed out as the four-piece tires and one-piece cab. We get over a dozen high resolution photos of the kit contents. He found no Weaknesses in his summary, but noted the following Strengths: “very detailed, very good workmanship and unique in this scale”. DetailScaleView did an 8.5-minute Unboxing Video of the parent (#UA72077) kit that shows each sprue while narrating continuously with a Russian accent. They also had a bilingual (English & Russian) In-Box Review on the detailscaleview.com site. They highlight the impressive detail and quality of the parts. Their conclusion includes: “As for the HEMTT, it offers excellent molding quality and clever parts division for reasonable price. Another good thing – separately molded doors and detailed engine.” This kit is in a nice, sturdy box about 13” x 9.5” x 2.5”, decorated with the big truck deployed and preparing to fire (or having fired) the Gryphon cruise missiles. As you can see from the pictures, the package is pristine and still sealed with four tape strips (these were never shrink wrapped from the factory), so it is factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains one complete injection molded plastic model kit with detailed grey and clear plastic parts, a nice sheet of decals and a detailed instruction guide. It requires cement and paint to complete as shown. I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally.
